Code of Conduct for QCB's Social Spaces
A "Social Space" would be any offline or online gathering. Some examples are: forums, chat rooms/channels, coffee socials.
Our social spaces are only for queer members of the Black diaspora. Furthermore Transgender, non-binary people, and gender nonconforming people are at the center of these social spaces.
Should you participate, you must agree to this Code of Conduct.
Our Social Spaces are also 18+. If you are not of that age, you can still view the rest of this site and our Padlet. I also recommend: Youth OUTright, Time Out Youth, PFLAG, and The Trevor Project.
TLDR: Do nothing to harsh the vibe.
If you know me, you know I am fond of having Only One Rule. It's present in all of the spaces I moderate, and this one is no exception. But not only should I elaborate, but I should specify the code of conduct required for participating in Queer City Blackfolx.
- No Adult Content outside of designated spaces.
- Content or Trigger Warnings must be used for sensitive topics, and to be added when requested.
- Do not spread misinformation (including conspiracy theories).
- No harrassment.
- No hate speech or bigotry of any kind.
Additional Guidelines
- Don't perpetuate colonialist thinking: ex. respectability politics and gender essentialism.
- Lateral oppression is not acceptable.
- Know your queer history. Remember Stonewall.
- We can and will "talk politics" here.
- NO UNICORN HUNTING, cruising, or generally being a creep.
This article, Internalized Colonialism & Lateral Oppression, discusses those concepts in depth.
Accessibility
Not everyone can see imagery or hear audio. We must be as inclusive as possible, so everyone can participate. Some ways to adhere to this are:
- Describe all images-- even the memes!
- Provide transcripts or summaries for audio and video.
- Use fields like ALT TEXT.
- Ensure subtitles and captions are legible (punctuation, accessible font, good contrast).
While writing, it is best to break up large bodies of text with adequate paragraphs and spacing between them. This makes reading much easier.
It is also important to have good contrast between the text and its background, as well as minimal text decorations.
Unicode characters for "fancy text" can be difficult to read-- and difficult for screen readers and text-to-speech tools to parse. Avoid using those.

AI Policy
In short: no.
To elaborate: fuck no.
Do not post, promote, use, or defend the use of generative AI,
AI tools, AI-assisted works, agentic works (including code), and
anything else colloquially considered "AI."
While there are legitimate uses for Machine Learning,
The QCB is not one of them.
Please read this website, Just Say No (to AI), for a brief synopsis as to why this stance is taken.
On Moderation
This isn't a "Free Speech" Zone,
and there will be consequences for negative behavior-- and zero tolerance
for bigotry.
While there may be room for growth, it will not be at the expense
of the safety within the social spaces. Moderators will act accordingly,
up to and including bans.
Everything Else
- This is based on the forum rules for Our Favorite Void.
- This is always being worked on and in progess.
- Please use the contact form for any clarifications or suggestions.
